A CYCLONE WARNING CLASS II IS IN FORCE IN MAURITIUS. A CYCLONE WARNING CLASS II IS IN FORCE IN MAURITIUS. Third cyclone bulletin for Mauritius issued at 0415 hours on Monday 12 January 2015. Latest satellite images show that severe tropical storm BANSI has intensified into a Tropical Cyclone. At 0400 hours this morning, BANSI was centred in latitude 17.4 degrees south and longitude 55.1 degrees east, that is at about 400 kilometres to the north west of Mauritius. Tropical cyclone BANSI maintains a south south easterly direction at about 09 km/h. On this trajectory, the centre of BANSI continues to approach Mauritius. Given that BANSI is still evolving in an environment favourable for further intensification, the possibility of having cyclonic winds over Mauritius has increased. A CYCLONE WARNING CLASS II IS THERFORE FORCE IN MAURITIUS. The public is advised to take all necessary precautions. The weather will be cloudy to overcast over the whole island with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. The showers will be moderate to heavy at times in places thereby causing water accumulation and flooding of river banks and water courses. The public is advised to stay away from these places. There will be fog patches in certain places, thus reducing the visibility. Road users are advised to be very cautious. Wind will blow from the east north east at a speed of 40 to 50 km/h with gusts reaching 90 km/h tonight in places. Sea will become very rough with swells of the order of 3 to 4 metres, breaking along the northern and north western coasts. The public is strongly advised not to venture at sea.
