A Call For Stability and Civilization - Don Anthony - TopicsExpress

A Call For Stability and Civilization - Don Anthony Harmattan Am not an ethnic zealot, neither am I an apologist to anyone, but the problem in Nigeria is multitudinous and multidimensional. We must accept the fact that President Goodluck has tried given the time frame that he has governed, though I will be truthful to tell you that he is not a perfect type of president that we all dream to have, because President Goodluck Jonathan has some areas of defect in his government which we all know. Citizens welfare and concern is zero when you talk about this government that we all voted for, given the opportunity he had in becoming president of this country that he could have done well at bringing the citizens on his side but he chosed to distance himself.. Yet my people, we cannot expect anything much when there are very serious diversionary trends and challenges here and there that makes government so handicapped to excel no matter how strong any one can be in leadership , nonetheless I can rightfully vouch that President Goodluck Jonathan has tried compared to his predicessors and I give him kudos. Can anyone do better than him? Yes is the answer but not Buhari and his vendetta PDP run away junks now hovering around him as progressives and as if they have anything new to offer only to come and continue the stealing jamboree. In fact the truth is bitter but let it be said that there is no Ex Military officer that is a progressive. Buhari parading himself as a progressive is a complete deceit of his true nature and his ardent followers whom he has an obligations to tell the simple truth that no ex military is a progressive and neither can he be it now. At present Buhari remains the same man we all know with dictatorial tendencies. Its like people are yet to come to terms with the adage that Old Soldier never die Simply put, A vote for Buhari is a vote for dictatorship and restriction of our freedoms and values, while massive looting is carried out behind the scenes as usual. Ask OBJ to tell you the truth of what an ex military is and how he OBJ ran Nigerian government like his private jet. Its like Nigerians are so quick to forget so soon that it was the very fact that people thought that OBJ did well in his time as military head of state from 1976-1979 that made people clamour for his return as a civilian president and voted him in mass only for him to ruin the Nigerian economy from 1999-2007. Today few people out of ethnic and religious mediocrity and bigotry now thinks Buhari can do anything better. In fact Buhari cannot do anything better than OBJ because OBJ is more capable yet he OBJ failed the country, so why do we now think that Buhari can be a Messiah when It was Late Major General Tunde Idiagbon that run and administered his government while he was a General and superior officer. Let me warn again that civil governance is a more complex administration than military rule and we cannot at this point in time keep making careless mistakes and decision that tend to draw our country backwards all in the name of religion and ethnicity. A steady government consolidates economic growth and prosperity for its people while constant change of government leads to fall in money and share values leading to inflation in all sector of the economy which in turn brings sufferings for its people. It is time for us to think wisely because if we chose to change the furniture in our parlour, the consequences is that the new price in the market may be high to pay which may cost us some fortune and we may possibly go hungry for some days if not months or may end up getting a less inferior and cheap one that will rot in few months and you end up losing your money. This is what happens with change of governments, your money may loose value if the market is not sure of the next man to come and eventually you will all begin to cry foul again and austerity measures will have to be applied to stabilize the economy and the value of the currency while the grass will continue to suffer so terribly. Ask the Germans why they keep their leaders for even 12 years or more in a row. It was only Chancellor Schroeder that ruled for less than 12 years., Chancellor Helmut Kohl ruled Germany from 1982 to 1990 during which period the German Economy witnessed a continous and tremendous boom. Today Angela Merkel is excelling and becoming the longest serving German Chancellor with a booming economy in Europe Also take the example of UK when Tony Blair and Margret Thatcher were the longest serving prime ministers. Britain boomed under Tony Blair and since the changes from Prime minister Golden Brown to David Cameroon, everything have gone bizarre in Britain. Nigeria democracy is a very young one that needs a stable government if we must enjoy the proceeds of Democratic rule and that will entail endurance from all sides of the divide and telling Boko haram to stop the senseless murdering of innocent Nigerians. Any attempt to vote Buhari will be a dangerous mistake as it will be a wake up call to other soldiers to take up arms and mutiny again and against our new found democracy, only to wait to return as civilian president. In that case we shall be creating an endless circle of military violence and coup d tat that might plunge this country into another war and endless poverty. We must distance ourselves from mutiny soldiers with bloods in their hands before we set a bad precedence in this country. At present, President Jonathan is the most civilized president this country has ever had since the second republic. This is an undisputable fact and he may be the last if care is not taken because we dont value anything as Nigerians. Therefore the devil we know is better than the many pretty angels we dont know. Lets give President Goodluck Jonathan another chance to prove himself clueable.
