A Christian’s Occupation Reality exposes the dream and suddenly it dawns on you that you’re not employed at the kind of job that you had wanted for a career. So now you can see that things don’t always turn out the way that you’d like them to. Okay, now then, even though you may not be at the job that you had wanted to lead into a vocation, I want you to know something. If you can trust in the Lord and believe that what happens is to bring about a better good overall, you can begin to want that in which before was so far from the desire you had desired to be so. Here is wisdom to those who will receive it. If you are a Christian you do not work for man, you work for the Lord. This is our occupation. So have faith in the Lord and know that where ever He employees you is where you need to be. And if He wants you somewhere else, He’ll place you somewhere else. Now I’m not saying that if you’re working in a ungodly place that you should stay there. Or that just because you see a “Help Wanted” sign, that you should go to work there. If you’re a Christian, you should know better than that. Pray about it, ask God to show you where you need to be. Have good discernment. God’s not going to employ you at a beer bar or some ungodly place like that. He will place you somewhere for both your good and the good of others around you. The others around you probably won’t be Christians. They probably won’t like you. But the people of the world need Godly examples in their lives. Trust God. He will place you in the field of employment that you need to be in. And any field of employment that the Lord places you in is a prominent place of business. Amen. And His work will be done through you there. Get this idea of worldly prominence out of your mind. You are not of the world. Take joy in the fact that you are a child of God. -Calvin W.
