A Consideration: Since Im not a racist, never have been, havent lived my life that way at all, its unpleasant to me when that slur is tossed my way. It happens once in awhile cause Im not afraid to speak to what I see as the truth and wont pander to avoid upsets. Im not afraid to say someone is just talking through their hat. As a prime example, our federal Department of Justice is amending their policy on racial profiling, except for maybe at the borders-read that as our border with Mexico. Im gonna guess the notion that calls for investigations into white police officers actions with folks of color isnt profiling, is it? The notion that it targets white officers isnt the point, is it? Really? Some bad actor that got into law enforcement and is white and abuses white folks doesnt seem to trigger the same response from the federal DOJ does it? Profiling? Well, No. That wouldnt be right would it? Talking through their hats. Yep. Thatd be my call. And hiring more folks of color, cause of their color, which means not hiring others because of their color, well thats OK because color matters, except when you profile and then it shouldnt matter. Am I missing something here? Listen, Ill be the very first to say this nation has a race problem. We do. Its hurt us as a nation and as a people. Its made for all manner of social problems and hurt our national soul. Racism is patently wrong and immoral. All racism of every stripe, where ever you find it. Its wrong. Its immoral. There is no good racism. Any other notion just finds folks talking through their hats. I have very little use or patience for that. Jim
