A Documentary by Alumni of 2012-13 Batch Bishwajeet Mookherjee, Rajat Sain, Ruchi Lee Pradhan Motihari is a small town in North Bihar. It is famous for being the place of Mahatma Gandhi’s satyagraha which became the thresh hold to the Gandhian freedom struggle. Motihari is also the place where the author of celebrated novels like ‘animal farm’ and ‘1984’ was born. Unfortunately, a major part of the population is unaware of this fact that a great personality of 20th century was born at their native place. People who have some idea that a British author was born there, they simply tend to ask, ‘why should we promote an‘angrez’ in a place like ‘Motihari’ which is known for its contribution in the Indian freedom struggle?’ The documentary focuses on Orwell’s ideologies and highlights the condition of the author’s birthplace. It also depicts the attempts made by the Rotary Motihari Lake Town and the State government to preserve and develop the birthplace which will contribute in the development of Bihar.
