A “FINGERPRINT” IN YOUR MOUTH Results from a new study from the Ohio State University show that studying oral cavity bacteria could shed light in identifying a person’s ethnicity. The study included 100 participants belong to 4 ethnic groups: non-Hispanic blacks, whites, Chinese, and Latinos. Results show that each ethnic group had a “signature” of shared microbial communities. These findings help explain why some ethnic groups, particularly African Americans and Latinos, are more susceptible than others to develop gum disease. While genetics may play a factor, we still recommend you brush at least twice a day and floss daily. browndigital.bpc/publication/?i=189960
