A GOOD DAY A good day for two reasons. Firstly, on arrival in Intensive Care this morning we were informed that Dad had had a stable night and the plan was for him to go back to theatre to remove the packs from his chest, examine his heart and if all was well, to proceed to closing his chest. So this afternoon he went back to theatre and thirty minutes later the surgeon appears. He had a smile on his face and informed us that the heart looked good and they had indeed been able to close Dads chest. This was a huge relief! So now he is back on the Intensive Care Unit and is still heavily sedated and on the ventilator, still requiring dialysis and an additional device to help his heart called a balloon pump. He also remains on a cocktail of medicines supporting his cardiovascular system. If he remains stable tonight then tomorrow they may begin to wake him up. We are really very encouraged by this development and pray this trend continues. The second piece of good news is that we had a rather sizeable donation on the Just Giving site from the West Suffolk Hospital Critical Care Social Committee following the very successful Charity Ball. We managed to raise £1000!!! Thank you to everybody who organised, attended, partied, enjoyed and donated.
