A Guide Welcome, Desire without direction is futile. Youll end - TopicsExpress

A Guide Welcome, Desire without direction is futile. Youll end up discouraged and worn out. What am I saying? Having a desire to study internationally is not enough. You should be able to define some basic things so as to make measurable fruitful progress in the right direction. Basic things like, 1) What do you want study? This is the first thing you have to define. You cant just study anything and besides anything eventually ends up becoming nothing. Having what to study in mind gives you a starting base to begin your search. Or else, youll be a ship at sea without a compass. You know the outcome. Youll end up wasting effort, time, money, and enthusiasm and eventually give up. 2) Whats your financial capacity or how much will you be able to raise by sourcing for funds from family, friends, supporters and well wishers? If necessary, how much loan can you afford to collect and remit installmentally? This helps in streamlining your search and prevents making fruitless effort or progress in the wrong direction. Your family can be involved in your decision making. Remember to first set aside sensible sum for accommodation and survival for at least 4-6months. 3) What type of tuition (high, medium, low or free) can you afford? 4) Where do you want to study? It might not be country specific. It could be, do i want to study somewhere close like in Africa or farther?” When choosing location, bear in mind travel cost, climate/weather condition, living cost, economic situation, government stability, conflicts, etc. Note: You can work while studying to support yourself. Its better to cook your own meals. Depending on the requirement of your chosen institution, youll probably also need a financial guarantor to certify that you can survive at your chosen country while studying. Let me give a practical example. Please, this is just an example; the figures used are not facts. You need to conduct your own findings. Using my list above, I want to use myself as an example. 1) I want to study Architecture. 2) I can raise in naira 300k and Ill collect 300k in form of loans. Total = 600k. 3) Ill set aside 100k for accommodation and survival (for my first 4months stay). Ill opt out for a free tuition university or at best a low tuition plus scholarship/discount. I’ll set aside 200k. 4) For Africa, I’ll go for a country that suites my taste or else, I’ll prefer locations outside Africa with low travel cost (e.g. closer locations). I’ll set aside 250k You’ll discover that by now, I do not just have a desire, I have a plan and a direction to see my desire fulfilled. What about you?
