A HEART FELT LETTER FROM OUR DEAR FRIEND DR. HAROLD MASTERS. Kim, as a friend of Christian’s, you, and John, I want to share some thoughts and feelings with you. I am following on Facebook and last night read the thoughts and information on the Nancy Grace website. I’m sharing these feelings both as your friend and as a physician with 40 years of Family Practice. We all are so painfully aware of the constant pain and agony and fear and anxiety and such a feeling of helplessness. To watch Christian struggle on a day to day and hour to hour and minute to minute basis with such a desire and determination to get well is both exciting and heart breaking. The saddest part to me is knowing that he is being deprived of his best chances of getting well and being able to function because of lack of money. This is in a country where there is plenty of money, just not where we need it to be able to use it for Christian’s rehabilitation. I notice that as people’s frustration and pain increase there seems to be more focus on justice. Certainly that is something that should occur but our immediate and urgent concern is that time not be permitted to pass and watch Christian’s chances for recovery decrease with each day that goes by without the intense therapy that he so desperately needs. It is certainly expensive but it increases his chances of recovery enormously. I know well that when you and John have spent your lives giving that it is difficult to be in a position of needing help from others but we have no control over some of these things. I am hoping all of us can focus our prayers, efforts and attention on trying to bring about some source for providing him the rehabilitation services that give him such a good chance of great improvement. Let’s hope and pray that some individual, organization or group of individuals will decide this could be one of the most rewarding efforts of their life. It is hard to imagine what pleasure that could provide for someone or some group. With love and my prayers and best wishes. Harold Masters, M.D. (Ret)
