A HOARDER with an appalling history of animal cruelty convictions - TopicsExpress

A HOARDER with an appalling history of animal cruelty convictions has abandoned an appeal to have a ban on breeding dogs overturned. Anne Giles was convicted late last year after the RSPCA raided her Rochester farm and found dozens of dogs living in appalling conditions. Giles today told County Court Judge Lisa Hannan she has since been death threats and a relentless campaign of harassment by animal welfare campaigners. “There have been a lot of intense threats or death threats. People say I should commit suicide,” Ms Giles said. Judge Hannan responded “thats terrible”. Giles was convicted last year after a RSPCA raid on her remote Central Victorian property discovered 40 starving and disease-ridden dogs. Giles has two previous convictions for animal cruelty in 2006 and 2007, and the 2011 raid was prompted by Oscar’s Law animal welfare campaigners. In the 2011 raids, a starving chihuahua was found caged in a rabbit hutch, and dozens more living in squalid conditions. One dog had an untreated eye infection from a blunt force trauma injury. Giles was described as a loner who had no other joy in her life other than dogs. She abandoned her appeal after Judge Hannan told her she had not taken responsibility for her actions and the appeal was unlikely to succeed.
