A Homemakers Reflection on the Gospel Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time Gospel Mt 21:33-43 (In this Gospel reading, Jesus talks about the tenants to whom the landowner leased his vineyard. Instead of giving the produce to the landowner, they mistreated, even killed some of the servants who were sent to collect. Finally, the landowner sent his son thinking that the tenants will respect him. ) I never ignore God! Sure my day passes with my senses engaged all the time, either working or enjoying a well-deserved entertainment, but I never ignore God! I make the sign of the cross the moment I open my eyes in the morning right before I rush to the bathroom. I say, “Thank you, Lord!” as I chew my first piece of french fries and “Goodnight, Lord,” as I go under the blanket at night right before I pass out. See, I may be a busybody like my teen-ager who yells out, “Bye, Mom. ‘Love you!” as he runs off to school in the morning. But I never ignore God! Do I? But maybe He deserves a wholeheartedly given minute. Just ONE minute every morning. I’ll even use a timer so I will not have to worry that I will go beyond a minute. (‘Coz I cannot be late for the other things!) For one minute I will sit QUIETLY on my bed and marinate in the loving presence of God. If at the end I will feel like saying, “I love You, too, Lord,” then I will not hesitate! Would you like to try it, too? Jesus stands on the door of our hearts and knocks. Every morning, we will open that door because we are the new tenants in the vineyard of the Lord!
