A Kennedy coach, whose team had just beaten an East team, was looking over the pool play results late today at the Waunakee tournament. An East player walked over to him and said, Good game, Coach. The Kennedy coach nicely thanked him and the East player walked away with his bag. Then, the Kennedy coach remarked, Wow. That was really nice. Ive had coaches say that to me, but never a player from the other team. It was great to witness such an impromptu act of good sportsmanship from one of our East players, especially after a loss by his team. It was unprompted. That player didnt have to say anything to that opposing coach. He could have just walked away, but he chose to say something positive. Of course its fun to have big numbers in the Win column, but in the long run, stories like this are much more rewarding, and it made me proud to know that we have such good kids in our league.
