A LETTER TO MR. PRESIDENT FROM THE COALITION OF TARABA STATE YOUTHS ASSOCIATIONS /ORGANIZATIONS Dear president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan SPARE A THOUGHT FOR THE FUTURE OF TARABA STATE Following the unfortunate plane crash involving Governor Danbaba suntai which led to his hospitalization, and the subsequent empowerment of his deputy ,Alh Garba umar by the state House of Assembly to preside over the affairs of the state as acting Governor as required by the law, the events of the pass twenty months in Taraba state has Assumed worrisome. Mr. President it may interest you to know that,The members of the House of Assembly having waited for so long to be precise good ten months without access to him and without reliable informations regarding the well being of mr. Governor , and the Assembly did not Take necessary steps to make the deputy governor , as substantive Governor this prompted power-greedy elements arrange, For the return of the ailing governor in order to rule by proxy and to plunge the state into further problems. Now the ailing governor is back , power-greedy elements for their personal mischievous act, transmitted letter to the house of Assembly as the ailingGovernor wrote it to resume his office and continue discharge of his functions despite the obvious knowledge of public about the state of health of the Governor Like a proverbial adding the salt to the injury, the considered learned minds of state who understand both state of health , of the governor and the intents and purposes of joint effects of the provisions of section 189 (1&2) and section 190 of the 1999 CFRN , In order to beat the corps of intellectual of Taraba state to make them believe that the ailing Governor is not incapacitated by the accident , an amateur video tape is playing on the state &national televisions stations in which the Governor was said to have dissolved all of his cabinet members. The continuance of this public show of shame would further reduce Nigeria in the hedge of the international communities Mr. President Sir. The unfortunate incident seemed to have tipped the balance against some inordinately power hungry element whose tricks and motive has become clearer as political events in the state unfolds As The acting Governor tries to maintained the status quo, in Taraba State, as left by his boss the arrangement that plays out demands that the acting governor exercise and assumed full control over the executive council and his political party as well. Unfortunately, Taraba State today is mired in endless political polarization and crippling administrative gridlocks, implicitly instigated by those power hungry elements. Mr. President sir,it is sad to note that every well meaning majors formulated by the acting governor to put the state on the track of progress is purposely challenge by those greedy elements by defiantly postulating in their naivety that the Acting governor is a mere ceremonial figure head with no constitutionally defined portfolios thereby slowing the pace of growth in the state. Mr. President sir, these power hungry elements flits from court-room to another sourcing for fraudulent restraint orders from the acting governor, in their bids to give their cunning legal justification. Intriguingly enough, these power-hungry elements have in their ranks a loose collection of strange bed fellows consisting of patch-together legislatures embittered by lots of grip on power in the state house of assembly, the some among them that were investigated and found guilty of stealing relief funds meant for flood victims in the state, and a few rank and file politicians that are lost in the shadows of obscurity but helplessly groping to resurface and the serving senator from southern zone whose bit for the Governorship seat has drifted into a cul de sac but is hopelessly relishing in self-deceptive illusion of being the self anointed successor of Governor Danbaba Suntai. Mr. President sir, these renegade elements, vaguely embittered by political arrangement that failed to conformed to the designs of their low cunnings, have taken to divisive mischief, by turning ethnicity and religion into political tendencies. having failed to advance convincing arguments to discredits the acting governor, these power-hungry elements are filling up the gap with primeval sentimentalism through their malicious misrepresentations of the acting governor along the line of ethnicity and religion, branding him as ‘’ a Muslim Fanatic’’ in order to foist their ill-filling narrative on the minds of the uninformed few in the state. it is apt to note at this point that the vindictive stereotyping of the acting along the divisive fault-lines by those power-hungry elements is the direct cause of the tragic turn of events in the southern part of the state with strings of ethno religious clashes cropping up at an alarming frequency. It is very clear that those cruel-hearted elements have placed low value on the necks of Tarabans and indeed the state. Mr. President sir, we also have it from reliable sources that the power-hungry elements are gathering resources to draft some individuals perceived to be closed to you in order to feed you with pre-fabricated narratives so as to find favor in your eyes and as well tilt you against the acting governor. these power-greedy elements do not spare a though for the progress of Taraba State much less the ruling party (i.e the PDP). Because in their blind scrambles to hold sway over the 2015 elections, they are openly financing opposition political parties in the state and in the mean time using their membership of the PDP as a bargaining counter to stay afloat. It is very laudable on the part of the acting governor that in the first of ceaseless provocation against him, his political party and indeed Tarabans, he has maintained a conciliatory disposition while focus on developing the state along the lines set forth by Governor Danbaba Suntai remains so as a lover of peace and our great PDP, Mr. President my fear is that this conciliatory attitude may bring about the very evil it was designed to avoid if no stringent measures are taken. Mr. President, are you aware of the litany rumors flying around that the presidency is inclined to act on scripts written by some monks that are pulling the lever of power behind the pulpits by replacing the acting Governor with a Christian candidate that have their benediction? Mr. President, in passing episodes of crises in the north eastern part of the country, we plead with you to have the courage your good intentions by taken urgent measures to address the ongoing disarray in Taraba State.
