A Letter to the Town Clerk from Alderman Anthony Hughes, former - TopicsExpress

A Letter to the Town Clerk from Alderman Anthony Hughes, former Leader of The Borough Council and former Mayor of Berwick. Someone who clearly knows a thing or two about workings within The Town Council. Lets support his letter by writing to our Mayor about all the issues he and this page have raised in the last 24 hours. The town are fed up with whats going on and its up to us to do something about it. Keep Berwick beautiful and sort out the rot. Thank you. Today at 1:10pm Letter to Town Clerk. Many thanks for your prompt replies to my emails. I am disappointed to note that you feel comfortable with the acceptance of incorrectness, which you seem to condone, this is not acceptable as a public servant. You are quite correct, I have taken a keen interest into the progress of Berwick Town Council and I wish to express how very disappointed I am at its demise under your stewardship as Town Clerk. I am appalled at your lack of respect afforded to the office of Mayor and also to the councillors, whilst in the Council Chambers, especially when you interrupt speeches. You have no right to speak during proceedings unless invited to do so. You are out of order. I am appalled at your exertion of authority to certain councillors by serving them with such regularity with codes of conduct complaints.Ms. Finch let me tell you quite clearly, you have no authority over any councillor, the only authority you have is with your staff. I am appalled at your constant prevarication of the truth in relation to your insistance that you had no knowledge of the existence of threatened legal action prior to 7th July when in fact there is evidence to the contrary. Why do you persist with your lies. You can run,but you cannot hide. I am appalled that you do not accept criticism or scrutiny very well and that councillor Phil Elliott found it necessary to resign his seat on the council because his relationship with you became untenable. Perhaps it´s time to make representations to the Audit Commission, with the assistance of the MP, a PPC, and a petition from the Towns People requesting an examination into the workings of the council and its fiscal integrity. In addition, to obtain a Tax Payers Alliance petition insisting that a Police Criminal Investigation be carried out into the council´s finances on the grounds that there is reasonable suspicion of misuse of public funds. I have mentioned but a few matters of great concern, I consider them to be very serious and I have reached the conclusion that you are not best suited to be a public servant but rather your skills would be extremely beneficial to a corporate/ industrial environment. Time for deep consideration and reflection before the situation becomes more difficult. Yours sincerely, Anthony Hughes. Hon. Alderman. (Semper Vigilante).
