A MESSAGE FROM POLARIS There was a student who approached us while we were doing our class. He said he was a pumpman for several years and will be working as OOW for the first time who said knows trim and stability for Oil and Cargo for OOW and wishes to take only safety familiarization for Third Officer. We invited him to look on trim and stab program and tell us what the condition of the vessel was. We have not asked yet to solve the present condition. To our surprise, he does not even recognize the condition of the vessel because he is only particular to the ship he boarded. This is quite serious as your endorsement does not represent for a single ship. Your CEC is not given to you because you know only a single a ship you have boarded. With this type of character, we presumed you are on the verge of being sent home anytime. We also teach newly promoted OOW on some secret tips on what to say and what not to say to the Captain. Remember, all our instructors are Captain, P and I Inspector, Flag Inspector, Marine Superintendent, Auditors. We teach within the concept of you being inspected by MOU PSC, Vetting Inspector, CDI Inspector, Flag Inspector, DPA, Superintendents. They may not agree with your Skills and Proficiency and they give you a valid and legal report. IN POLARIS, WE ELIMINATE COMPANYS FEAR ON YOU. To have a document and license is not sufficient. STCW has three measurements. Among this three, two maybe acquired ashore - Knowledge and Skills but your Proficiency(basically acquired through simulation) will be actually monitored by any Inspector requested by the Ship Owner. POLARIS WILL CORRECT, COACH, MENTOR, CALIBRATE AND TEACH YOUR PROFICIENCY LEVEL. You may not have any clue on whether they will teach you on board or they send you home. If you feel you lack of the most important factor such as PROFICIENCY we bet you enroll at the earliest time in POLARIS before you board on ship.
