A MUST READ: LIMKOS TO SWALLOW FOKOTHI As I see them Change is difficult but change must happen! Prof. Sharon Siverts, former NUL VC Stakeholders suggest LIMKONGKWING should take over FOKOTHI; is this the change that must take place? One way in which the circulation of elites is possible for continuity, is when the ruling elite allows for akward mobility such that, the least effective from among the elites can come down and those capable from the masses, can be co-opted. Co-option ensures survival and continuity and it is the same strategy that King Moshoeshoe used in his nation building. Pulling the above to the subject at hand, according to an article of Sunday Express code named Fokothi salary bombshell On 23 Nov, 2014 this is what it had to say; - College fails to pay November salaries for 202 lecturers and support staff - Management warns of similar financial crisis in December unless government provides funds - Stakeholders suggest the institution be taken over by Limkokwing to save it from total collapse This indeed is a difficult time for Lerotholi Polytechnic and one that the solution must be found. The government MAY NOT be able to save Fokothi for the following reasons; - The country is heading for snap elections, therefore it needs a lot of money to cater for elections. - They failed to bail out MKM, will they with Fokothi when they are already seeking for Gov to pay for their M500 000 intrest free loans? HOLD ACCOUNTABLE! Lerotholi Polytechnic is where it is because of the acts of individuals which must be held accountable for this mess. This view of mine is cemented by the Lesotho Times article of May 2, 2014, code named Fokothi in 13 Million tax scandal; “It has been realised that the employees’ payslips always indicated that Pay-As-You- Earn tax was being deducted from their salaries, yet we still owe the LRA this M13 million. This is the money we suspect was supposed to have been paid to the LRA over the past two to three years. In conclusion, one way or another, Change is difficult, but change must happen. Is Limkongkwing the last hope for Fokothi? Is the survival of Lerotholi Polytechnic in the hands of Limkongkwing? As ALWAYS, some people are going to make a lot of money from this crisis. Thank you for reading.
