A Mega Medical camp to detect congenital heart diseases (CHD) among poor children below the age of 18 years for open-heart surgery at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute and other hospitals in Delhi ‘free of cost’, is being organized by Rotary International under its ‘Gift of Life’ programme in November, 2014 at Jammu. If you find any child (especially belonging to BPL category) suffering from CHD, please help him /her to avail this opportunity. Rotary Clubs are advised to conduct Initial Screening Camps at their locations. For this wide publicity is required for the clubs to reach out to possible patients who can benefit from this. Clubs should ensure that the Parents/guardians of children up to the age of 7 months to 18 years, desirous of availing this opportunity register their names with them on before 10th of October 2014 with following information: a) Domicile proof b) Echo report c) Photographs (3 nos.) d) BPL Certificate e) A note on the child / family f) Medical information form g) General information form. Applications received and shortlisted for final screening by Rotary Clubs may be forwarded along with all relevant information to me immediately. The final screening by Doctors of Escorts Hospital Delhi and selection of children for open heart surgery at Delhi will be done at a suitable city keeping in view the proximity of maximum registered children qualifying for the programme in our District 3070. Children finally selected for open-heart surgery at Delhi hospital will be given date of admission. All expenses related to travel to Delhi hospital, local conveyance in Delhi, food, accommodation etc. will be borne by the patient. Cost of surgery will be met by Rotary ‘Gift of Life’ programme of The Rotary Foundation.
