A Message From Gary Johnson: Friends, This week, a prominent Republican pollster said, “The perfect storm is being created between the NSA, the IRS, the implementation of Obamacare and now Syria. People are looking at the government more suspiciously. They’re looking with deeper scrutiny and reasonable suspicion.” She said this in the context of yet another national poll showing a significant shift toward “libertarian” priorities -- smaller, less intrusive and less costly government. At the Our America Initiative, we are seeing this shift first-hand. Tuesday night, so many people tried to participate in my live, online Google Hangout that the site “crashed”. That never happened before. Our social media posts about issues of the day are routinely being viewed by 100,000 or 200,000 or sometimes even half a million people. All of this confirms what I have long believed: As the government’s abuses of power, whether they be domestic spying, using the IRS as a political weapon, or threatening military attacks without authorization, seem to increase every day, the American people are collectively trying to say “enough is enough”. They’re trying, but they need help. They need a voice. Otherwise, the politicians will continue to ignore the majority and just keep abusing the power we have let them grab. A few days ago, I asked you to contact your representatives in Congress to let them know that going to war in Syria is a bad idea. From everything I’ve seen, a great many of Our America’s supporters did just that. While we certainly didn’t do it alone, it is obvious that the outcry against an ill-advised military intervention made a difference. President Obama is frantically looking for a way out of the irresponsible threats he made, and the politicians in Congress are breathing a sigh of relief that a vote on that military intervention has been put off -- at least for a while. Grassroots activism WORKS! That’s why the Our America Initiative is launching a new project to more than double our database of liberty activists. Whether it be stopping a disastrous military intervention on the other side of the globe or fighting a local ordinance that attacks liberty, we must have the strength of numbers. If 100,000 emails to Congress can help stop a needless war, 200,000 -- or a million -- emails can do even more. In the next very few weeks, the politicians in Washington will be making decisions about Syria, the debt ceiling and a host of other issues that impact liberty. We MUST be heard. Thank you. We can do this. Governor Gary Johnson Please share.
