A Message from Anne Forrest, WUFA President I am writing to you - TopicsExpress

A Message from Anne Forrest, WUFA President I am writing to you in response to some serious developments in our negotiations with the University administration to secure a new collective agreement. By now, you will have received and read yesterday’s letter to WUFA members from Alan Wildeman. In it, the administration threatens to unilaterally eliminate some of our important, long-standing benefits, if a new Collective Agreement is not reached by 12:01 am on July 8. These benefits, which include pension, health and welfare benefits, and reimbursement of Professional Development and Membership Dues are important to you and your families; they are also a crucial part of your compensation package negotiated by WUFA over the years. But the administration does not intend to stop there: in addition, it has advised that it will no longer honour the grievance and arbitration provisions of the Collective Agreement. By taking this unusual and unprecedented step, the administration wants to unilaterally remove WUFA’s right to enforce the terms of the Collective Agreement, while at the same time, requiring us to report for work and do our jobs. In other words, you are expected to continue to do your work for fewer benefits, while taking away WUFA’s ability to enforce your employment rights. wufa.ca
