A Message from Canon Jo Ann Hardy Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, Many of you may be aware that the Rev. Canon Saundra Richardson, a much loved priest of our diocese, has been bravely living with pancreatic cancer since early 2012. We ask your prayers for Saundra particularly at this time. Saundra’s health is in a state of daily deterioration. There are no longer treatment options available, and the word from those caring for her is that she will not recover. She was transferred yesterday from a hospital stay to end of life care at West Oaks Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center in Detroit. The Rev. Diane Morgan, the bishop’s chaplain to the retired community, will provide intentional pastoral care to Saundra. Bishop Gibbs, Canon Lisa Gray and I, along with the Fr. John Talk (Christ Church, Detroit) and Dean Hunter of the Cathedral are providing support to Saundra and her family. Her colleagues at Mariners Inn, where Saundra is on staff, are providing an amazing level of personal care for Saundra. We are so grateful for all that they continue to do. Please pray for Saundra and her family. I know that she will be comforted by knowing of your care for her. Faithfully, Jo Ann From the Book of Common Prayer (p. 459): Comfort and relieve your sick servant, Saundra, and give your power of healing to those who minister to her needs, that she may be strengthened in her weakness and have confidence in your loving care; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
