A Message from the President elcome to Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in Xi’an—an ancient cultural city known worldwide. NPU was established in 1957 by merging the National Northwest Polytechnic Institute founded in 1938 and Xi’an Astronautic College founded in 1956. In 1970, Astronautic Department of Harbin Engineering College (Original PLA Military Engineering College Air Force Engineering Department) joined in to have built up todays NPU. Adhering to the school motto of Broadness, Honesty, Bravery, Persistence, NPU strives for an open multidisciplinary research university. The core mission of the Northwestern Polytechnical University is to achieve excellence in student talents training, multidisciplinary researches and public social services.
