A Million Dollar Raspberry : (a message based on a simple experience) Dear son, You were too young when this happened. We reached a fruit hawker at around 10pm to buy you some fruits. 70% of his stock was unsold at dat time. While I was just thinking how much he mus be buying, what he must be selling like this, how much would be perishing out of his stock; Your mom was negotiating too much. I stopped her in between and we bought what, 130rs fruits!! While leaving from him, your mother was paying him. In the meantime, that fruitseller counted the money, watched you trying to reach something on d edge of his laari, came to you, took a good raspberry from d heap (that we had not bought), cleaned it with his hand & gave you saying le chhotu.. Normally I dont prefer you to have a fruit without washing, but that day I wanted u to overrule me.. have a bite to keep his heart, hygeine became less significant than that moment .. You know what? I thought of saying him nai bhaiya, thank you.. but by that time you had already snatched it.. then I thought of asking your mom to pay him 5rs for that, thinking that he was not too rich to afford that.. but then I felt nobody is poor to exhibit love really. . My extra 5rs would have killed his generosity & more importantly this message for you : I feel this extra raspberry becomes a million dollar raspberry in our life, my son. You cant pay for that. Even if you pay, you cant come out of that obligation. I didnt pay because I wanted you to learn a lesson. Life is a sum of obligations. Do you think that bhaiya gave you a raspberry because we always go to him or so that we repeat going to him in future? There were 10 hawkers in d length of 100m there. People hardly revisit a laari.. It was only affection. All d way to home, ur mom was puttin it dis way : u see, he loved my son I was puttin it dis way : u see, i loved d vendor. Learn to train your perception, my son.. Love is love when it is selfless, dear. Learn citizenship, brotherhood, humanity & friendship from these people.. wherever & whenever you meet them in life! I have specially remembered all those panipuriwalahs, grocery store walahs & such fruit vendors who have given you an extra panipuri or a toffee or a fruit.. I will take you to all of them once you learn to speak, to say a thank you. :-) thats life..
