A Mr. Hammond has suggested that I posted an irrelevant comment that should be removed - I dont see it here any longer - may I explain myself. The above article and the fighting is a distraction to the public over peanuts while very significant sums of taxpayers money are being used in ways that I believe are detrimental to our economy and through diversionary tactics - since the mainstream press is not reporting on this story AT ALL - I am making the point on these comment boards so that avg citizens and taxpayers can hear about it and then ask their MLA if they shouldnt be arguing about these - I wonder when someone will fight about the Alberta Teachers Commodities Purchasing Consortium buying a $160 million purpose-built windfarm with taxpayers money, ostensibly so they can also play the carbon trade game ...the Ontario Teachers Pension Fund being a big investor in the firm building the farm. Should school boards be able to make 25 year contract commitments and use taxpayers money to finance start-up companies... putting up a windfarm that can bid zero price for its power against conventional suppliers who are required to provide back-up power 24/7 to wind...but unable to ever put in a zero bid for their product. The end result is that shareholders in the free market who have invested in the conventional power plants are being taken to the cleaners by a government-agency, funded by taxpayers...and the end result is that power prices will skyrocket (as has been the case in Europe and UK) as conventional suppliers have no choice but to raise prices to make up the shortfall. In fact in Europe conventional suppliers are now demanding government compensation penalties be paid to them for creating this situation. Why arent people asking about this? The Fraser Institute study by Ross McKitrick shows that the Ontario Green experience costs TEN TIMES the cost of conventional power with no environmental benefits and serious economic damage. Ask questions ppl.
