But as shecontinued searching fortheremains of her child, shebeheld another scene.Close to the bed was the babywho, although lying bare floor,was safe and under the bedwhere the body of a snake wastorn to pieces in what had been afierce battle between the snakeand the dog which was nowdead. Then reality dawned on thewoman who now began tounderstand what took place inher absence. The dog fought toprotect the baby from theravenous snake.It was too late for her now tomake amends because, in herimpatience and anger, she hadkilled the faithful dog. How oftenhave we misjudged people andtorn them to shreds with harsh words and deeds before we have had time to evaluate the situation?
