A Must place to visit when in the area of Lake Chautauqua, NY On my visit to St. Clare Convent in Mayville, NY I discovered a truly wonderful place for an elegant dinner in an atmosphere that is exquisite and with impeccable service. The place is The William Seward Inn Bed and Breakfast located at 6645 South Portage Road Westfield, NY 14787. My hosts Fr. Michael Jancek and Sister Mary of St. Clare convent treated me to dinner there on the evening I arrived. We were served in a Dining room that has been restored to how it may have been when it was the home of William Seward who was a Governor of New York and finally, Secretary of State under President Lincoln. There is no menu but you have a choice of three entrees, meat, fish and chicken. The dinner comes complete with an appetizer, soup or salad, the main course, desert and beverage and everything is home made from scratch using only the finest of organic produce. The 4 appetizers were all delicious and the owners own recipe, The Soup was a Bisque and delectable, We decided to each order a different entrée and then sample each other’s, they all were 5 star. I strongly suggest that if you are ever in the area and you want to enjoy a very special dinner with a loved one, friends or associates you make a reservation and maybe even stay in one of the Inns restored rooms.
