A N C ---- KWAME CLEMENT: IS HE A LIBERIAN? Written by Jaclyn Schiff, I stumbled upon this piece of information from the G W Law; law.gwu.edu/News/newsstories/Pages/2012_TheVoiceofAfrica.aspx “After graduating from GW, Mr. Clement won a clerkship with Carlos Lucero, J.D. 64, a federal judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Colorado. Mr. Clement returned to Arnold & Porter after clerking for the judge, and worked in antitrust and securities law until 2006.” Given what we know so far concerning dual citizenship in Liberia, and the red light ribbon placed on it by the Liberian constitution, we cannot help but dig a little deeper into what concerns us going forward. There can be no question as to the birthplace of Mr. Kwame Clement. Liberia is his birth country and that can never change. Yet when a person takes on U S citizenship, he/she automatically is made to denounce his/her citizenship. Granted that many Liberians including Mr. Clement left Liberia at no fault of their own, Mr. Clement landing a clerkship job with Carlos Lucero, a federal judge for the U S court of Appeals; 10th Circuit in Colorado; raises some questions. At that level in the U S Federal system, one would have to be a U S citizen to handle federal papers, correct? Is it possible to have a job with a federal judge handling federal papers and/or documents without being a U S citizen? Well, we may not know what the deal is. Yet we are incline to believe that, at some point Mr. Clement and his ANC will come clean on this one. We know what is happening to Chuckie Taylor given his U S citizenship; and we see what Tom Woiwoeyou is dealing with at the moment. We cannot afford to have a president arrested at an airport in New York, for whatever fault he has in his adopted country. We are not sure whether or not Kwame Clement is a U S citizen. What we are sure about, is that we have the right to ask in the interest of our country, Liberia. Whilst it remains true that Mr. Clement sought refuge in the U S in 1989, we cannot forget that this is 2014 and a lot have change since he left Liberia. So, we ask out of concern given the fact that Liberia does not allow for dual citizenship; and acknowledging the length of time Mr. Clement have been away; and the position he was privilege to have here in the United States……..is Mr. Kwame Clement a Liberian ? NB**** WE DESERVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW!
