A NEW ADVENTURE!!! By Jey Willis Good Morning to you all, and we all of Matthews prayer warriors are doing well. We are currently in day 2 of the 5 straight day chemo round. I will share more of that new adventure below, but thought I would give an update from the past few days. Our last post was on July 4th, and that was a great day not only for Matthew, but for Casi and I as well. We spent time at our good friends, the Bieseckers, along with other friends from church. We swam, had burgers/dogs/pork, fixins, and finished up with banana pudding and home made Milky Way ice cream. It was a really normal day for us, so it was very refreshing. This past week was good as well...Matthew has begun building a campsite on the wooded side of our land, and he is loving it. He had 2 friends come over to help, and they have done a great job so far. Lauren returned from JH Ranch on July 5. The camp was incredible once again...as JH always is. This week Lauren got back to babysitting and has now started Cross Country practice again. Casi and I continue to get our home settled. It is slow, but coming along fine. We decided for this day treatment that we would NOT stay in the hospital with Matthew. He has gotten to the point where he gets sick at just about any hospital smell. So, we elected to get home health care to help us administer the chemo stuff at home. And that is where the adventure began. Yesterday was about as chaotic or confusing or frustrating or aggravating as things could get. There are many many many details that go along with all this chemo stuff, but they are not that hard...just lots of them. Well, the health care came and after all kinds of drama, Casi finally left and got home around 5 last evening. We had to change out some fluid last night before bed time and that was a little stressful, but God is good, and He got us through it all. Praise the Lord! So, Matthew and I are at the clinic right now and to this point things are running smoothly. We want you all to know that we love you all deeply. We know that many of you are praying without ceasing, and we have clearly felt those prayers constantly. We want to make sure that God gets all the honor, all the glory, and all the praise for this entire process...whether good or bad. We know that Romans 8:28 tell us this. We should praise Him in the good and praise Him in the bad...for it all works to glorify the Lord. We know this to be true because Matthew loves Jesus and is called according to His purpose. There are clearly times when glorifying Him is tough...like when he is vomiting his brains out...walking around with the medicine pole and not complaining...or frustrated he doesnt have the same stamina. But even in those times we do honor Him. So, join us in glorifying God each day, for it is His day, He made it, and we should be glad in it. Please remember our main prayer requests and our added specific request: 1. That Matthew is fully and completely healed. (James 16) 2. That this tumor would shrink totally away. (Jeremiah 17:14) 3. That God would guard Matthews body through all the uncertainties that chemo and its side effects can present. (Psalms 3) 4. That our family would fully and completely trust in God through all of this and find peace in Him. (Psalms 14) 5. That God would continue to be with Lauren as the sibling of a cancer patient. (Isaiah 26:3) The added prayer request is very specific. We are asking God in the next 6 weeks to pull this tumor away from Matthews colon and lower spine area. Again, we love each of you dearly and covert your prayers. Jey and Casi
