A NOTE FROM TOM: Fire in the Glen has been my baby for more - TopicsExpress

A NOTE FROM TOM: Fire in the Glen has been my baby for more than 15 years now. Since that first awkward gig on March 17, 1999, this band has been a major part of my life, and I’m thrilled with the way it’s evolved over the years. The enthusiasm of friends and fans has been very exciting for me!! So, it’s with a great deal of sadness and regret that I announce that the current lineup of the band -- myself, Amanda Wells and Durelle Leaman -- will dissolve at the end of this year. Anything on the calendar for 2014 is still a go -- and yes, we’re still booking gigs for this year -- but when the page turns to 2015, Amanda and Durelle will turn their attentions to other musical pursuits. Is this the end of Fire in the Glen? Hmmm. Maybe. Fifteen years is a long time to devote to a project, and breaking in new musical partners is both exciting and exhausting. At this moment, I don’t have any potential new FitG members in mind, but if someone has a suggestion -- or wants to volunteer to be a part of a popular, energetic and somewhat profitable Irish band with a great deal of history -- please drop me a line at tom@fireintheglen. I’d welcome the opportunity to keep this band going, but I also don’t want to see it take a step back in quality or energy; the folks who’ve been in FitG to date have all set high bars of excellence. So, to all the fans, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You’ve been great, you’ve made this worth doing. Please, come out and see us at the shows we have remaining this year! (Schedule at fireintheglen.) Thanks, too, to everyone who’s been a part of this project over the years: John Varner, Chet Williamson, Jason Mundok, Aaron Gagne and Michael Filippo in the past, and Amanda Wells and Durelle Leaman today. P.S. Fire in the Glen is in talks for a band tour of Ireland in 2015. This would involve FREE travel for the band, as well as a guest for each band member. If we disband, obviously, the trip will be cancelled, but if we come up with a new lineup ... well, Ireland will still be there!
