**A NOTE TO ALL PEOPLE WHO ENJOY OREO COOKIES: Growing up in Redmond, I was blessed with an education that so many African-Americans and Mexican-Americans can only dream of. I will NEVER apologize for my success and my level of knowledge. Still, there are so many people who try to appropriate my success to white folks and their influence in my life. To them I say, I never have and I never will be an OREO! I am a proud BLACK and MEXICAN woman and my success can only be accredited to God and my OWN hard work. I did not get to where I am because I took on the persona of a white woman. I did not get an internship with the Seattle Mayor, become a double major at UW, win multiple scholarships, and Deans List my entire first year at UW by pretending to be white! I did all of that as a WOMAN OF COLOR. Being white in 2014 America does not make you successful it merely makes you privileged. What you do with that privilege is up to you! I worked, I worked hard, and I worked even harder to get where I am today and I got here without any extra privilege to back me up!
