A Pastor friend of mine posted this yesterday, and I believe it is worth a share...enjoy. John Jacob Raskob, financial executive and the guy responsible for building the Empire State Building once wrote an article for the Ladies Home Journal entitled, Everybody Ought to be Rich. Just one month later the stock market crashed in October 1929. Most of us wish we were better off financially than we are right now. It would be nice to have all our bills paid, reliable transportation in the driveway, the kids college fund already taken care of, and a little left over in case of emergency or to have a nice vacation. Thats not to much to ask is it? The better thing to wish for is contentment. The writer of Hebrews put it this way: Let your conversation be without covetousness, and be content with such things as you have. For He hath said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) Thats not to say we should not work to better ourselves but that we should be content with whatever the Lord chooses to give us right now. We can be content because we know he loves us and wants the best for us even more than we do for ourselves. Besides, if you belong to Him, you are already rich beyond your wildest dreams. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children then heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also be glorified together. (Romans 8:16-17) -Rev. Tim Dixon
