“A Person Can’t be Saved by Works” Romans 2:7 Salvation comes only through the death of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12) tells us that no other name is given under heaven whereby one can be saved. The name of Jesus is the only name that has saving power. All mankind will stand in judgment before the Lord someday and they will be rewarded according the righteous judgment of the Lord (Matt. 16:27). Some will be eternally rewarded and others will be eternally punished. Those who have been saved will be rewarded for the works that they have for the Lord. They are seeking honor, glory, and immorality because they know that the Lord is to be pleased with their walk in this life. Believers do not work in order to be saved but they work because they want to glorify the Lord (Rom. 2:7). The works of the believer will be tried by the fire to see what sort it is (1 Cor. 3: 13-14). If he has worked to please man or self those works will burn but if he has worked the works of the Lord those works will stand the fire. It was not the works that saved him because if man can be saved by works how much would he have to do? Plus if man can be saved by works what happens when he felts to do what has be given to him? Paul says in (Eph. 2:8-9) that one is saved by faith through grace. The faith and grace come from the God of glory by way of Jesus Christ. The life of the believer is to be one that shining for the Lord. He is to let his light shine so others can see his good works and give the glory to the Father (Matt. 5:16). The works are to be done to the glory of God for the building up of the people. The final purpose of the believer working is to be rewarded at the end of this life at home with the Lord. The rewards are the works that believers have done and even at they will be placed at the feet of Jesus Christ our Lord.
