A Petition is currently available to sign in the Chip Shop and The Greyhound. We need 100 signatures to take to the Council to discuss this at a full council meeting.I am sure you all agree this is urgent especially with winter fast approaching. We want to ensure the safety of our residents at all times. The churchyard paths used by Penkhull village residents and visitors, and its surrounding wall which is seriously damaged and unstable in places, are in need of urgent repair. The maintenance of the churchyard is the responsibility of Stoke on Trent City Council and its officers, together with their contractor, have inspected both and agreed action is required. However, the money for carrying out the work has not been included in their budget so, despite being in discussions with the Council for the past two years to get the repairs done, we are no further forward in getting this essential work carried out to ensure the health and safety of pedestrians and road-users and to improve the appearance of the village centre. If we get a sufficient number of petitioners our aim is to approach the relevant Council Committee to make our case and see if we can get funds released for this urgent work. Your support would be most appreciated
