A Phantom on the Wind Within twisted mangrove branches dense foliage of pale green and dark green touched with black Spanish moss swayed toward a body submerged in the warm Gulf water The young female bobbed with the tides her long hair floated among ethereal water plants and the occasional curious fish. Lacerations on her ankles and wrists a deep, jagged gash across the throat where blood long ceased to flow plunged this once tranquil scene into the realm of nightmares. A voiceless plea from the bay whispered to the darkening sky while the lips remained mute and the eyes, a vivid blue stared into nothingness. Soon she would be found Soon a family would mourn Someday the killer now merely a phantom on the wind would be brought to justice.
