A Quick Lesson of How NOT to Have a National Conversation on Race This is for all the journalists out there. If Martin Luther King the III, with all his years of experience with the press would garner the reaction this CNN reporter Toure demonstrates, then one gets a glimpse of why it is difficult to have a real conversation about race. Toure is amongst the loudest voices demanding a national conversation. Yet, he demonstrates how ill equipped we are to do so with his own poor facilitation. Acting indignant to a persons ideas does not edify or promote honest sharing. If you dont have complete transparency and a welcoming host in a non-threatening environment, you may be talking, but no one is getting the whole story. The challenge for independent thinkers in face of people like Toure is to to expect it when in discussions and stay on course with your thoughts and beliefs. Just be ready not to get invited back onto shows or panels that are biased. Liberals or anyone else shutting people peoples right to speak is very dangerous. I witness it all the time. Theres that soft intimidation that grows to hard pressure to fear being honest. This is not helpful. Id rather speak with an honest racist than a dishonest bigot. Yes. It is ok to be black and Republican, or Hispanic and a Tea Party advocate. Those who profess liberty the most should model liberating behavior. https://youtube/watch?v=hpt4xsTff2A
