A Quick Letter from the Linworth Alumni Partnership to Linworth - TopicsExpress

A Quick Letter from the Linworth Alumni Partnership to Linworth Alumni We know this is long, but please take five minutes to read about what the Linworth Alumni Partnership (LAP) is trying to accomplish. The Linworth Alumni Partnership is designed to meet the growing interests of Linworth and alumni. Interests of Linworth Many graduates have contacted us asking for ways to give back to Linworth. We are grateful and humbled by this sentiment. We can use your help in five different ways. 1. Engaging in Linworth philosophy and curriculum—As you know, we believe in the unconventional combination of experiential education, self-reflection, and classroom learning. As a result, Linworth community members are uniquely prepared to create a path of self-advocacy and personal growth and are empowered with the ability to initiate change. The LAP is invited to continue that discussion about change. For example, we had great success last spring with The Linworth Forum;* the activity is happening again this year. We see it as being the foundational opportunity of the LAP to educate current Linworth students experientially. 2. Promoting the alumni volunteer base—Linworth has a variety of interests that often need physical participation. Whether helping with yard work or donating blood, the LAP can help the Linworth community. 3. Encouraging alumni to contribute talent—So many of you have gone on to learn and develop an incredible variety of talents and vocations. Linworth could benefit from your expertise in more ways than we can imagine, including computer, network, and social media intervention, social services, education, marketing, and more. 4. Partnering to develop opportunities—People’s lives have been changed by Walkabouts and Interims. Linworth can provide even more diverse experiential opportunities through members of the LAP and their associates, whether with placements, housing, or other prospects. 5. Providing support to Linworth—Quite simply, some of you have asked if you can make a financial donation to the program, which is awe-inspiring. This support can happen in many ways, too. For example, the Chili Supper this month will feature a silent auction to raise money for the Experience Fund. Some members of the LAP work with companies or individuals who may want to contribute items for the auction. Additionally, the LAP has money and is considering an annual scholarship. Interests of Alumni The Linworth Alumni Partnership wants to personally benefit alumni, too. 1. Partnering regarding opportunities to engage and connect with alumni—Obviously, we just had our Linworth 40th Reunion, which was a great way to see old friends. The LAP may continue to promote activities to help alumni continue to connect. 2. Communicating news—Whether activities of current Linworth students or news of Linworth alumni, the LAP can share what is happening with each other. 3. Foster a spirit of pride and loyalty—So many great things are happening and we want to keep you aware of them. *thisweeknews/content/stories/worthington/news/2013/03/26/linworth-alternative-alumni-return-to-share-career-success-stories.html
