A REQUEST FOR HELP! Truckers Toilets UK has been asked to comment on service yards and parking bays related to Shopping Centres. [Were getting known for more than toilets it seems :) ] 1 Apparently there is a new guide to the design of service yards - mainly technical and doesnt mention loos - which suggests that the size of yards and the number of loading bays can probably be reduced from that previously recommended. What do you think of this? 2 Is it still the case that you can be fined if you turn up late for un/loading and that sometimes yards arent ready for you even if you turn up on time - so you have to go away and come back later with no compensation? This is more likely to happen with supermarkets I believe but does it happen with Shopping Centre deliveries too? Your answers will help a group of retail architects to prepare a guidance note on service area design. The group feels that if the situation still exists in [2] there should be parking areas and toilets available for drivers who have to wait as part of the design.
