A RETURN TO YOUR ORIGINS is the name of this most beautiful presentation of the 7 Islands of the AZORES archypelago,. But it could very well be the MADEIRA archypelago, LISBOA or MINHO & TRAS-OS-MONTES, the ALENTEJOS or the ALGARVE , all in Mainland Portugal. So much beauity , peace and purity. So, what makes the Portuguese People abandon their country and go settle overseas in the 5 continents of the World ? Some say it is the need to work and improve their and their families lot.. To liver a better and give a better future to their descendants.. I myself , although single, did that by immigrating to the U.S.A. in 1969. However, I have a theory that , while it accepts the usual explanations for the existance of a Portuguese DIASPORA, it dares to suggest something else. My theory is that Portuguese immigrate because at birth they are already genetically modified and have 2 extra genes many other peoples do not and which make us all similar in some ways to the Jewish People, who have the oldest Diaspora on Earth..One is the DISCOVERY gene the other is the ADVENTURE gene. Only the existance of something like that can truly explain the willingness of the Portuguese People to turn their backs on a beautiful land with simple, good people and go risk everything ....to live overseas. That started with Prince Henry The Navigator and the heroic discovery of India , Brasil, and Magellans first voyage around the World and has not yet ended. May be that on the day such genes are put to rest and no longer exist inside the Portugueses soul Portugal and with it the Portuguese People will cease to exist. Until then we will all live with SAUDADE, an eternal nostalgia which leads us all to always hope that someday we will return to our origins. Enjoy the video.
