A Reprise of a post from September 13th. (That was, I believe, four beheadings ago.) What have WE done? The brave few have dropped some bombs and the talking-heads have made it clear that this is not our fight (see the call-to-speeches within the original post below). Until we take the lunatics at their word and give them the fight they demand, we continue to subjugate our integrity...or, perhaps, we simply have none left. Have we forgotten the intensity of the war in the Pacific? We have been here before...facing a demented enemy that has twisted their belief system to revere death and destruction at the expense of the innocent, the sane. Where has our compass gone? Do we now accept that our values, our beliefs are of no importance? Do we value political correctness over correctness? Is it unrealistic to believe in right and wrong in lieu of tolerance? Do we agree with the political haters that we have (somehow) brought this unto ourselves? Are we so susceptible to the baseless rhetoric of our leaders that we bumble along, blind to the forces that would be our demise? (Ill take a venti, half-caf latte...hold the please but keep the change in exchange.) That we can pretend that life goes on in the face of pure hatred? I am sickened more by our apathy than by the a-holes holding the knives (and, they are pretty sickening). YOUR silence is deafening. I will be keeping this in the forefront as I step into the voting booth next month. I will remain vigilant against all enemies, foreign and (infinitely more troubling) domestic. I will remain resolute. I will hold true to my values, to my integrity no matter how politically incorrect or unfashionable they may become. I challenge you to do the same. If you believe that I am full if sh-t, I challenge you to express it, to hold true to your values, your integrity. I welcome all rational viewpoints. Tell me where I am wrong. Highlight my errors in judgment, in perception. SAY SOMETHING, ANYTHING!!! Aside from supporting my immediate family and true friends, you can expect fewer posts from me until there are signs of a change of approach. Until there is a demonstrable shift in attitude and resolve that is prevalent, I simply cannot accept the apathy and the pretending that these threats do not exist. I refuse to remain blind to the forces which would not hesitate for a second to strip from each of you (and me) all you hold dear.
