A.S.T.E.R.I.S.K. INTERNSHIP PILOT PROGRAM A BIG SUCCESS Whether you measure it by employer or student satisfaction or business support and funding, the MVUSD summer internship program piloted this year was a big hit. Seventy-five recent grads or incoming seniors were paired with various MVUSD offices or local agencies and businesses for a six-week paid internship that taught both interns and employers some important lessons. Interns learned about what to expect in the working world, and local employers learned that youth and inexperience don’t necessarily equal ineffectiveness. In fact, all participating employers reported being very pleasantly surprised at how professional and eager their interns were. A.S.T.E.R.I.S.K. stands for Accelerating Success Through Employment, Responsibility, Inspiration, Skills and Knowledge.
