A SAD BUT TRUE STORY! I had a former pastor one time that lead a rebellion against me in our Christian school and our church. This gentleman had been one of the teachers in our school for a number of years (he had also been a pas-tor of a local church) and because of a decision I had made he had be-come extremely angry and upset at me. He was so upset at me that he spoke to all of our school teachers and personnel. This bitterness in his heart spread like a house on fire throughout the whole ministry. Strife, gossip, and rumors about me began to spread like an incurable disease. It became so bad that after the school year, I simply had to shut the school down. I mean it was so vicious that it was impossible to keep going with our school. James 3:16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. During this whole conflict not one time did I ever get angry, bitter or upset with him. The next thing that I heard was that this dear brother had been hit with a deadly and incurable disease. I began earnestly praying for him, he had been a good pastor at one time, but had al-lowed the seed of bitterness to spring up in him, contaminating many others with him. One day out of the blue I received a phone call from this man’s wife. She said her husband would like to speak to me. I had to press the phone tightly against my ear because he was speaking to me with barely a whisper. He asked me to please forgive him for what he had done. He said he knew he was wrong for causing all of the strife which he had caused. With tears rolling down my face I told him that he was forgiven. We spoke for a little bit longer before we both hung up. Late that evening he passed on to be with the Lord. Praise God for his mercy and his goodness that even when we disobey him, there is still mercy and forgiveness available.
