A SAD READ...PLEASE PASS IT ON!!! Saturday morning, 11/1/14, our Blue Heeler pup, Hank wandered off following Hobo, our older other Heeler, to the neighbors yard. About 30 minutes went by and we started looking heavily for Hank...calling him and going from door to door. I spoke to our neighbor next door and when talking to him, he answered very short and stern and would not let me go further down the drive to search around just in case Hank went into the woods that way and was lost. Now keep in mind, Hank was only 9 weeks old. To no prevail he wasnt found so I made flyers with his picture on it and posted them around the neighborhood and nearby convenient store. Our son, Quincey Hammett, had a hound, Cash, that could track him and so we took Hanks blanket and away we went. Cash tracked right up to the other side of our neighbors yard and would not go any further and kept pointing and trying to head down to the the neighbors house at the end of the drive. Cash did this several times when we started trying to head back to my house. My suspicions knawed at my gut about the whereabouts of Hank. Sunday afternoon, my great nieces, take some reward flyers I had made up and started handing them out around the neighborhood. The same neighbor next door that told me twice he had not seen Hank, told her yeah he has seen him and he was in his yard when he seen him. When my niece told me this, I asked where was he at and she said she didnt have him and the man said he seen him. Glenn and I talked about it and agreed to call the Ouachita Parish Sheriffs Dept and have an officer come out. We explained to the officer what was going on and our suspicions. He went and talked to the neighbors and he didnt see Hank either. This morning, Monday, 11/3/14, Hank was found down the street on the side of the road with 2 bullet holes in him and he was still warm. I do believe my suspicions were correct, but because I called the sheriffs office and he went to talk to them, this was their pay back. Cruel is not the word for this. This is sadistic and unfeeling...heartless!! I do believe the neighbor had Hank, got mad because the law was called and retaliated by shooting him. He was a pup, had a collar and name tag on, why wouldnt you just check it and call??? This took place in West Ouachita area. Please pass along to draw awareness to this kind of cruelty to animals.
