A STUDENT OF CHF PASIGHAT FOUND DEAD AT KOMLIGHAT Maksam Tayeng, Pasighat, Oct 26: In yet another incident of mysterious death, the township of Pasighat shook again with the dismal report of finding a death body of a B.Sc. 4th Year student from College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat early this morning. The death body of Lt. Lalmuankima Chiawngthu, originally from Mizoram studying in 4th year of College of Horticulture & Forestry, Pasighat was reported to police by some resident of PI Line near Komlighat here at around 12.30 am early this morning. But due to darkness police couldn’t proceed with any further investigation till this morning. S.I. Nani Nama I/O of the case sent messages around the township to identify the body, but later during the time of post mortem at General Hospital Pasighat, a case of missing report from the CHF, Pasighat was received and subsequently, the body was identified to be of that student, informed S.I. Nani Nama. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Pasighat PS under UD case no.11/2014 U/s 174 CRPC and investigation has been launched. As per initial police report, there was injury marks on mouth and bleeding of blood was observed from nose. The head portion of deceased body was found under bank of Siang River, added the police. A bicycle and a cell phone of the deceased were recovered from the spot based on which police will proceed to its investigation. The post mortem report is awaited and samples have also been sent to Kahilipara, Guwahati for Forensic Examination. When asked about the incident, AK Pandey, Dean of CHF, Pasighat informed that, Lt. Lalmuankima was a good student and the incident doesn’t seemed to be a suicidal case, however, post mortem report will tell the cause of the death. Dr. Nilay Kumar warden and Moses Riram prefect of the boys’ hostel informed that, Lt. Lalmuankima had went out at around 6 PM on Saturday evening with a bicycle. Basically, students from CHF often go out to nearby shops and hotels to have teas etc. as the college doesn’t have their own canteen. It is said that, when one of his friend rang him up during the time of dinner, deceased phone was found untraceable. So, according to CHF and police sources, the incident occurred in between 8-12 pm. And it is a matter of proper investigation as to how Lt. Lalmuankima’s body was found on the stony bank of Siang River at Komlighat along with his bicycle, which raises eye brows of certain foul play. The death body is being moved to his home state Mizoram this evening. It is worth referring here that, a similar incident of a mysterious killing of a youth from Ziro was reported during 2012 whose body was found buried under the sand below Raneghat Bridge. However, police could crack that case appreciably in the subsequent investigation.
