A School Mum has asked: My 8yo DD has very low self confidence. She is negative about everything. She is always saying how bad she is, how terrible things are that she has done and wont give things a go if she thinks shes going to fail. School work is one of those things. When it comes to homework, she just says its too hard and she cant do it. I am here to support her, breaking it down, giving her new ways to complete the task etc. I am encouraging, reminding her that she is capable (because she is more than capable of doing the work - she just gets it in her head that she cant and wont try). Things often end in a screaming match, with her feeling even worse about herself, me feeling frustrated and angry and guilty for pushing her. I know Im not asking too much of her, but she just wont give it a go. Im at my wits end and need some suggestions to help her be the best version of herself she can be. Thank you.
