A Season of Bangla Drama Sat 1 Nov 14 - Sun 30 Nov 14 Fees £8, Concs £5, unless otherwise stated Venues across Tower Hamlets Identity, hierarchy, love and migration are just some of the themes that will be tackled on stage this November as part of the 2014 Season of Bangla Drama. This month-long festival incorporates a high calibre and diverse range of plays and dance dramas which are uplifting or challenging, but always relevant! These include dynamic interpretations of old classics as well as new work to engage a wide and multi-cultural audience in celebrating and learning about anglo-bengali theatre. Work by established giants of theatre including Tagore, Shakespeare and Beckett are translated and transposed into fresh portrayals alongside debut performances of works which address themes as diverse as a boat being the metaphorical vessel for journey through life, a what if scenario explored by a more mature couple, the adoption of East London as home despite numerous trials, the ongoing fight for gender equality and a topical debate around public art.
