A Soldiers Silent Night was written and produced to honor the memory of eight Soldiers from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), better known as Night Stalkers, who were killed during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan, June 28, 2005. While they were transporting eight Navy SEALs to aid four of their brothers in the remote Hindu-Kush mountains, a rocket-propelled grenade destroyed their MH-47 Chinook, killing all 16 men aboard. Night Stalkers are well known in the special operations community for their expertise at difficult insertions and extractions, and colleagues said these eight were the best of the best. Their loss was unthinkable. The four Navy SEAL brothers they were sent to extract were Marcus Luttrell (Lone Survivor), Michael Murphy, Danny Dietz and Matthew Axe Axelson. Danny Phillip Dietz, Jr. (January 26, 1980 – June 28, 2005) was a United States Navy SEAL who was killed in the Hindu-Kush mountains of Afghanistan. He was posthumously awarded the U.S. Navys second highest award for valorous actions in battle, the Navy Cross, on September 13, 2006. Danny Dietz was from our city of Aurora, Colorado. goo.gl/y29B4 Please honor their memory in your prayers and SHARE to your Timeline.
