A Spin.ph reader asks: Will Manny Pacquiao pass the requirement - TopicsExpress

A Spin.ph reader asks: Will Manny Pacquiao pass the requirement for the PBA rookie draft? Well, Jesse, the PBA screens all applicants for the rookie draft before announcing the players that were accepted to the draft pool. Annually, PBA officials weed out applicants who they feel lack the qualification to play in the pro league. There was one time when the PBA disqualified an applicants who stands just a little over five feet yet listed his playing position as center. But generally, the PBA is not too strict when it comes to screening the applicants, usually letting the teams determine who is good enough to make it to the league roster. In Manny Pacquiaos case, PBA officials have assured Spin.ph that the many-time world boxing champion will go through the normal screening process if he applies for the draft. The Pacman has not played for any school or commercial team in the past, but his stint with the GenSan team in the now-defunct Liga Pilipinas may qualify him for the draft. Hope that answers your question, Jesse.
