A State-level team of ministers visited several villages of Jeypore block on Monday to asses crop damage in the recent rains. The team comprised School and Mass Education Minister Rabi Narayan Nanda, Panchayati Raj Minister Kalpataru Dash and MLA of Dharmagarh Pushpendra Singh Deo. They visited Ranadapali, Kaliagam, Ambaguda, Ekamaba, Dhanpur villages and assessed crop damage at agricultural lands, market yards and houses of farmers. Pani panchayat leaders appealed the team to allow procurement of discoloured paddy so that farmers do not face heavy loses and demanded waiver of agricultural loans. The team also collected samples of the damaged paddy from the farmers. Speaking to mediapersons, Nanda said the team would also visit other areas in Koraput district and Kalahandi to assess flood damage and the reports would be submitted to the State Government on Tuesday.
