A TEENY LIL BIT… A while back, I was in the kitchen frying some dodo (i.e. plantain) on low heat (*dancing*); because I had just put it on fire, I decided to do something else for just a teeny weeny lil bit…it wasn’t even for so long. On returning to the kitchen however, to my utmost dismay, I realized that my plantain wasn’t browned but had been blackened! (*sadface*). In other words, my plantain was burnt and beyond redemption! All because I didn’t pay attention and took my eyes off it a lil bit. Brethren, just like the plantain required my attention to come out well and tasty (*winks*), our salvation and walk with God also requires our full attention. Many of us are beginning to take our eyes and focus off our salvation and walk with God by paying attention to things that are not of eternal value. When things such as our jobs, money, possessions, relationship with others, family and many others begin to make our relationship and walk with God suffer, then we are beginning to lose focus of our salvation. When because of your job or school work, you no longer go to your place of quiet time and fellowship with God, you are beginning to neglect your salvation…. Hebrews 2:3a says, “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation…”. The salvation we have been freely given and the price that Jesus paid on the cross for you and I is so great…let us take our salvation seriously for it is our life! When we lose sight of it for a teeny lil bit, we lose our life in the process. We don’t necessarily have to backslide to lose our salvation; all we need do is neglect it and boom! We lose our greatest treasure as pilgrims on earth. We have been bought with such a great price brethren, let us pay attention to and work out our salvation with fear and trembling, let us be alert, let’s be watchful, let us fix our eyes on Jesus all the time…may God continually help us. Shalom!
