A TEGOBIAN TALE by Mauricio Taslik I have been following Patricias trip over Europe in the last weeks. She has been sharing nice pictures of the places she arrived in and it was a very nice to feel that all we looked at those pictures were, in some way, traveling with her. Then something suddendly happened. Patricia posted a picture of the painting on wall in a hostel in Budapest with some sort of appealing manifest about life. Andrea asked Patricia to bring the wall to Buenos Aires. It was a funny thing to ask for, and I realized it was not neccesary to do such a thing because we already had the picture... First I asked Patricia to take a better picture of the wall and thought about printing the thing on a t-shirt (something I am doing on the last months as one of my many commercial activities nowadays). Even though the artistic painting on the wall was certainly nice I found it easier and nicer to copy it in my own personal way and so I did using a fantastic open source software called InkScape. Friday night I went to the TEGOBA regular meeting – arriving kind of late – with a sample of a white shirt for Andrea and my own personal shirt in grey. Besides it seemed everybody liked it Gonzalo remembered he had seen that writing somewhere else before. So he looked up and traced this up to something called the Holstee Manifest. Holstee is a garment brand and they sell shirts and posters featuring this writing. The original design is signed by Rachael Beresh. So this beautiful piece of wording was first printed on t-shirts by Holstee, then somebody found it was nice enough to paint it on the wall of some hostel in Budapest, another one (Patricia) liked it so much that took a picture, and then somebody else (me) thought it was good to print a t-shirt with it. Shirt, wall, photo, shirt again... Yesterday I decided to do my own translation to Spanish and a special translation in Argentino “barrio” style. Here is a bunch of pictures that properly illustrate this nice tegobian tale.
