A TIP FROM THE GONZO CHEF. This fall I made my first apple jelly. I had to boil it three times what it said was necessary and add so much sugar! But it worked and it tasted sugary. Best for dogs with rotten teeth. I kept it and when I had a sugar surge, I would take a spoonful. It did have some apple taste and a nice color. So lately I open the fridge and looked at it, and looked at it, and took it out, along with a half filled jar of Costco strawberry jam (more sugar) and I took a few table spoons of the Costco jam (their food products are good) and swirled it and the jelly round and round and mixed it up dizzy like and then, and then, I added, yes, two pinches of habanero flakes. Hot Dog, Hot Jam! Tastes great on ice cream. Try it! (Well, I havent...yet...but I did have it on Northfield Falls wheat and whole grain bread and it is...hmmm....an ingredient Brautigan could have used in his seduction scene in Trout Fishing in America.
